When the flames catch Max’s eyes…
Flames dance on the table
Max’s eyes follow each glow
Though they’re just LEDs
Max was completely captivated by the candles, his wide eyes following the flames as they dance on the table. Even when I scattered shredded orange peel around them, he remained undeterred. I can almost see the gears turning in his mind.
The next day, I replaced the candles with LED “candle” lights. I stepped away after turning them on, and when I returned, Max was on the table, carefully examining each one, one by one. The warm, flickering glow seemed to hold his curiosity just as firmly as the real flames had.
